Great piece and photographs. When Edgar and I were living in Val 1971-72 I became friendly with Jean Claude's brother, Mic I think his name is. That January the conditions were so terrible I destroyed my 210cm Volkl Zebra's with cracked edges. Mic sawed them off right behind the boot and we'd ski off piste on super steeps, too narrow for regular skis. To stop you simply dug in your heels. Great fun!

Imaginative improvisation! Ultra short skis. My only Val experience was on motorcycles. Wish I had skied there.
